Hi, I’m Ghufran. Travel Enthusiast, Food Explorer & Cybersecurity Professional.
Sharing authentic travel experiences and culinary discoveries from 37 countries to help you plan unforgettable journeys.
Welcome to HolidayPlanner.ca! I’m Ghufran, and I’ve spent the last 15 years exploring the world while working as a cybersecurity professional. My journey has taken me across 37 countries, and I’ve lived and worked in six different nations.
I currently live in Canada and work in the government sector, specialising in cybersecurity with over 18 years of experience in information technology. This background gives me a unique perspective on travel safety and digital security that I love sharing with fellow travellers.
My professional career has taken me to Pakistan, the UAE, Germany, Australia, the USA, and Canada. Each country taught me something new, not just about work, but about culture, people, and especially food. Living in these places gave me insider knowledge that tourists rarely get.
But here’s what really drives my passion. Every time I visit a new country, I make it my mission to discover its local cuisine. I’m not talking about fancy restaurants only. I mean the real food that locals eat every day. The street vendors, the hidden gems, the family-run places that don’t even have English menus.
I’m a Level 4 contributor on Booking.com and a Level 6 Google Local Guide. These aren’t just badges. They represent hundreds of honest reviews and detailed recommendations I’ve shared to help other travellers make better choices.
My love for food has taken me to amazing places the vibrant energy of Lahore Food Street, where every bite tells a story. Aromatic dishes are served during the Dubai Desert Safari under the stars. The diverse flavours of Food Street in Mississauga, Canada, where the world comes together on one block.
Turkish cuisine holds a special place in my heart. The local foods there have unique flavors that stayed with me long after I left. Italian street food is another favorite. There’s something magical about eating fresh pasta or pizza from a small vendor in Rome.
Now, I’ll be honest with you. Not every cuisine works for everyone. Thailand’s food didn’t quite match my taste preferences, though I know many people love it. But here’s what blew my mind there. The fruits! Especially pineapples and rambutans. I’ve never tasted these fruits as good anywhere else in the world.
After years of traveling, taking photos, trying countless restaurants, and answering questions from friends and family about where to go and what to eat, I decided to create this blog. HolidayPlanner.ca is my way of sharing everything I’ve learned.

What makes my perspective different is simple. I’m not a full-time travel blogger who gets sponsored trips. I’m a working professional who travels for the pure love of discovering new places and trying new foods. Every recommendation comes from my own wallet and my own experiences.
My cybersecurity background means I understand the importance of safety while traveling. I share practical tips on protecting your data, using public WiFi securely, and staying safe online when you’re far from home. These are lessons I’ve learned through real experiences.
Whether you’re planning your first international trip or you’re a seasoned traveler looking for your next destination, I’m here to help. My guides are based on real trips, real meals, and real experiences. No fluff, no recycled content from other websites, just honest advice from someone who’s been there.

FAQ: Travel Guides from my tourism journey
My travel guides are based on real experiences from visiting 37 countries over 15 years. I'm a cybersecurity professional with 18+ years in IT, which gives me a unique perspective on travel safety that most travel guides don't cover.
As a Level 4 Booking.com contributor and Level 6 Google Local Guide, every recommendation in my travel guides comes from places I've personally stayed, restaurants I've actually eaten at, and experiences I've genuinely had. I don't accept sponsored content, so my travel guides remain honest and unbiased.
Plus, I focus heavily on local food. My travel guides help you discover authentic cuisine, not just tourist restaurants. From Lahore Food Street to Turkish local dishes, I explore destinations through their food culture.
I update my travel guides regularly to keep information current and accurate. Each guide shows the last updated date so you know how recent the information is.
When I revisit a destination, I update the entire travel guide with new restaurants I've tried, current prices, and any changes to visa requirements or safety conditions. For destinations I haven't revisited recently, I monitor official sources and reader feedback to update critical information like entry requirements and major changes.
My goal is ensuring that every travel guide on this site provides you with accurate, up to date information you can trust for planning your trip.
Absolutely! My travel guides are designed to help both first-time travelers and experienced explorers. I write with beginners in mind because I remember what it felt like planning my first international trip.
Each travel guide includes step by step information on everything you need to know. How to get there, visa requirements, where to stay, what to budget, and how to stay safe. I explain things clearly without assuming you already know travel basics.
My travel guides also include practical tips I wish someone had told me before my first trips. Things like how to use public WiFi safely abroad, which credit cards work best internationally, and how to avoid common tourist scams. Whether this is your first trip or your fiftieth, you'll find valuable information in these travel guides.
Yes! Every travel guide on this site includes detailed budget breakdowns with actual costs from my trips. I believe knowing real prices helps you plan better, so I share exactly what I paid for flights, hotels, meals, activities, and transportation.
My travel guides show costs in both local currency and USD, with the date I visited so you can adjust for inflation or exchange rate changes. You'll find specific prices like how much a meal at a local restaurant costs, what taxi rides should cost, and realistic daily budgets.
I also include money saving tips in each travel guide. Things like when to visit for lower prices, where locals eat for cheaper meals, and free activities you shouldn't miss. These travel guides help you maximize your budget without sacrificing experience.
Yes, you can trust the safety information in my travel guides. With 18+ years working as a cybersecurity professional in the government sector, I bring a unique security perspective that most travel guides lack.
My travel guides include both physical safety tips based on my experiences in 37 countries and digital security advice to protect your data while abroad. I cover topics like using VPNs in foreign countries, staying safe on public WiFi, protecting your financial information, and avoiding online scams while traveling.
Having lived and worked in six different countries including Pakistan, UAE, Germany, Australia, USA, and Canada, my travel guides reflect real world safety knowledge. I share what actually works, not just generic advice. However, always check official government travel advisories for the most current safety alerts before your trip.
